Installation instruction for Super Spoke

Caution

The Super Spoke is a tuning-part of your bike. Please read carefully the following recommendations when using it.

Length

Because the elasticity of the Super Spoke is high, please use a length that is 1 mm shorter than that provided by the spoke calculator or suggested by your experience.

Spoke tension

The recommended spoke-tension to build a stiff wheel-set with the Super Spoke is:

  • Front wheel: at least 950N
  • Rear wheel: at least 750N (opposite of the sprocket wheel)

As you probably already know, a high tension is always better. The higher the tension the stiffer the wheel. Please make sure that you respect also the requirements provided by your rim-manufacturer and do not forget that the tension of each wheel-side should be equal.

Friction

Use only aluminum nipples from Sapim. They will reduce the friction on the thread thanks to the Sapim’s special coating that reduces the torsion on the spoke.

Custom components

Before assemble the spokes please check if the hub-flange and the spoke-holes are suited for the spoke flexure. Little spoke-holes up to 2.3mm are preferred. Please avoid inflexions between nipples and spokes.
